Butterfield Country Club
Originally designed in 1922 by William Langford, Butterfield Country Club is nestled in Oak Brook, IL. William Langford was known for bold contours, shapes and patterns-signature features reminiscent of another legendary designer, Seth Raynor. Steve Smyers has become well versed over the years restoring courses to their original charm and character. The Smyers remodel not only took the layout back to its original style, but the new plan highlights key features such as ridges, hillsides, valleys, and streams as key features, while keeping the modern game in mind. The project lengthened the courses, strengthen the courses, and improved the aesthetics, shot making, and playability of the courses. The renovation created a facility which garners the highest esteem in the golf community and included an 18-hole routing (composite course) of significant strength and length. Butterfield Country Club is ranked in Golfweek's Top 200 (2012).
